Journal Descriptions
Dar Es Salaam Medical Students’ Journal (DMSJ) is a peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to promoting medical research and scholarly writing among medical students and early-career researchers. The journal was established in 2006 and is associated with the Tanzania Medical Students’ Association in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. It serves as an academic platform where medical students and young researchers can publish research findings, clinical observations, and scholarly discussions related to medicine and healthcare. The journal focuses on a broad range of topics within the medical and health sciences. These include clinical medicine, public health, epidemiology, infectious diseases, pharmacology, medical education, and community health issues affecting populations in Tanzania and other parts of Africa. Articles published in the journal often include original research papers, case studies, review articles, and brief reports addressing health challenges and medical practice in developing countries. One of the main goals of the journal is to encourage scientific inquiry and research skills among medical students while providing opportunities for academic publication and knowledge sharing. By highlighting student-led research and collaborative work with faculty mentors, the journal contributes to strengthening the culture of research within medical schools. Through its peer-review process and academic focus, Dar Es Salaam Medical Students’ Journal helps disseminate medical knowledge and supports the professional development of future healthcare professionals in Tanzania and the broader global health community.
