Cureus: Journal of Medical Science is a web-based peer-reviewed open access general medical journal using prepublication peer review. It is also the first academic journal which provides authors with step-by-step templates for them to use to write their papers. The journal's founding editors-in-chief are John R. Adler (Stanford University) and Alexander Muacevic (University of Munich).[ Cureus is an Open Access, multispecialty, online-only medical journal owned by Springer Nature Group. For information on journal leadership, please refer to our FAQ page. For information about the journal’s business model, please refer to the Policies and Procedures section of our Author Guide. The following stats are from the prior six months. Averages are displayed for monthly reads, submission to publication time, and accepted articles published for free. Cureus is a signatory of the Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), which emphasizes continued improvement in how researchers and the outputs of scholarly research are evaluated. While we recognize that Journal Impact Factor has value to many, we instead focus on article-level metrics such as reads, downloads and citations. Cureus also encourages all readers to submit an SIQ (Scholarly Impact Quotient) score for each article. SIQ is our unique post-publication rating that assesses article importance and quality by embracing the collective intelligence of the Cureus community-at-large. Impact Factor, alongside other metrics such as turnaround time, downloads and social media mentions, can help to provide an overall assessment of journal quality and its research output in the community.
