Journal Descriptions

Crime Fiction Studies is an innovative journal that provides a much-needed, academically strong publication within the area of Crime Fiction that is both focused, interdisciplinary and international. It draws scholars together through a series of themed and general issues which explore the status of the genre today, its history, social and cultural influences and current popularity. Crime Fiction Studies (CFS) has developed out of the International Crime Fiction Association and its associated Captivating Criminality conference series. It provides a forum for the dissemination of contemporary high-quality scholarly works within the crime fiction genre and associated academic areas, along with evaluative reviews of recent academic publications within the broad, multidisciplinary and multi-media field of crime fiction studies. The journal also includes an online website (with a blog) and a social media presence that is already established and growing. CFS is unique insofar as there are currently no comparable journals in the UK. As interest grows in crime fiction as an academic subject area, it has become imperative that an academic journal should be established. CFS fills this gap and is an invaluable resource for those both interested in writing on, and reading about, crime fiction. The journal has a broad scope, ranging from contemporary crime fiction back to the beginnings of the genre, while at all times relating central social, cultural and historical themes to the preoccupations of today’s world.
