Journal Descriptions

Contemporary British History offers innovative new research on British society, culture, politics, foreign policy, and the economy in the recent past. We welcome work from across disciplines as well as work that takes a comparative or transnational approach to contemporary Britain. Given the changing nature of the field, we are particularly interested in submissions dealing with the period since 1945. The research articles published in Contemporary British History are diverse in their approach to the past. Alongside detailed archival case studies, we publish theoretical and methodological reflections on the nature of the field, work on teaching contemporary British history, and analyses of the politics and public resonance of writing history. The journal also publishes book reviews, review essays, and witness seminars. We encourage submissions across these fields, and are open to suggestions for pieces that take a different form to the traditional research article.
