Computational Science and Discovery (CSD)

Computational Science & Discovery was an international, peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to advancing research at the interface of computational science and scientific discovery. Established in 2008 and published by IOP Publishing Ltd in the United Kingdom, the journal focused on original research articles, multidisciplinary computational studies, and methodological innovations across diverse scientific fields. Its scope included computational physics, chemistry, biology, materials science, engineering, data analysis, visualization techniques, numerical simulation methods, high-performance computing, and other computational tools that enabled significant scientific breakthroughs. The journal emphasized not only the scientific results but also the enabling algorithms, software, and technologies that made such results possible, reflecting the central role of computation in modern research. Although Computational Science & Discovery did not follow a traditional fixed monthly or quarterly issue frequency, it published electronically and allowed rapid dissemination of quality research. Despite gaining visibility in abstracting services like Scopus and Inspec during its active years, the journal struggled to sustain enough regular content and was discontinued at the end of 2015. Nonetheless, its archive remains an accessible resource for computational science literature, preserving contributions that highlight the integration of computation and scientific exploration.
