Communication and Sport (CS)
Journal Descriptions
Communication & Sport is a peer‑reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to advancing international research on the intersections between communication and sport. Published by SAGE Publications on behalf of the International Association for Communication and Sport, the journal fosters critical understanding of how communication processes shape and are shaped by sport at individual, organizational, cultural, and societal levels. The journal examines both communication in sport and the communication of sport through diverse theoretical lenses and methodological approaches. It publishes original research articles, critical essays, and theoretical analyses that explore sport media, mass and new media platforms, interpersonal and group communication within sport, sport management communications, digital and social media engagement, rhetoric and discourse in sport contexts, and broader sociocultural issues such as gender, race, identity, policy, politics, and globalization in sport communication. Articles in Communication & Sport often intersect with fields such as sport studies, sociology, management, marketing, education, kinesiology, health communication, and cultural studies, emphasizing both empirical and conceptual contributions. The journal is valued for its rigorous peer review, theoretical diversity, and global perspectives on how communication shapes sport experiences, organizations, representations, and audiences worldwide. Its contributions help inform academic scholarship, media practices, sport governance, and communication strategies in sport industries.
