Colonial Waterbirds (CW)
Journal Descriptions
Colonial Waterbirds was an international peer reviewed scientific journal published by the Waterbird Society, focusing on the study of colonial nesting waterbirds such as seabirds, shorebirds, herons, and other aquatic bird species. The journal was active under this title from 1981 to 1998 and served as an important platform for researchers in ornithology, ecology, and conservation biology. It published original research articles, ecological studies, population monitoring reports, behavioral studies, and conservation management papers related to waterbird species and their habitats. The journal emphasized studies on breeding colonies, migration patterns, population dynamics, habitat use, and human impacts on waterbird populations. In 1999, the journal was renamed Waterbirds: The International Journal of Waterbird Biology to reflect a broader scientific scope that included all aquatic birds worldwide. Throughout its publication history, Colonial Waterbirds contributed significantly to wildlife science and conservation policy by providing high quality peer reviewed research. It is widely indexed in biological and zoological databases and remains an important historical source for ornithological literature. The journal is now continued under the title Waterbirds, which is still active today and published by the Waterbird Society.
