Journal Descriptions

Cell Calcium is an established, high-impact journal dedicated to the cellular and molecular aspects of calcium signalling and homeostasis — a fundamental regulatory system in virtually all forms of life. Calcium ions play central roles in a broad array of physiological processes including muscle contraction, neurotransmission, immune responses, and gene expression, as well as pathological conditions such as neurodegeneration, cardiac dysfunction, and cancer. The journal publishes rigorously peer-reviewed original research articles, comprehensive reviews, and expert short communications that shed light on the mechanisms by which calcium signals are generated, transduced, and decoded within cells. Topics include the function of calcium channels and transporters, store-operated calcium entry (SOCE), calcium-dependent enzymes and effectors, interactions with other signalling pathways, and emerging therapeutic targets. As a monthly publication, Cell Calcium ensures timely dissemination of novel findings that contribute to both basic science and translational research. It attracts contributions from an international community of cell biologists, physiologists, biochemists, and biomedical researchers focused on deciphering calcium’s multifaceted roles in health and disease.
