Journal Descriptions

The Canadian Journal of Philosophy was founded in 1971 by four Alberta philosophers: John King-Farlow, Kai Nielsen, T. M. Penelhum, and W. W. Rozeboom. It is registered in Alberta as a private not-for-profit corporation and is managed by its Board of Executive Editors and its Editorial Board Coordinator. The CJP’s aim is to publish the best work in any area of philosophy in French or English. The CJP has grown into an internationally respected philosophy journal, receiving about 400 submissions every year from authors around the world. All regular submissions are anonymously reviewed and are selected on the basis of whether they make significant, original contributions to the philosophical debates they address. Our acceptance rate is close to 8%. In addition to regular article submissions we welcome Discussion Notes responding to articles in CJP. Occasionally we publish Special Issues, Author Meets Critics symposiums, and the like. These non-regular projects are initiated by one or more of our Executive Editors, and the editorial process for them may not involve anonymous refereeing. (The Journal long published Supplementary Volumes on dedicated topics.) The Journal is published in partnership with Cambridge University Press.
