Journal Descriptions

The Canadian Journal of Occupational Therapy (CJOT) is the official peer-reviewed scholarly journal of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists and one of the leading international outlets for occupational therapy research and scholarship. First launched in 1933, CJOT has a long history of promoting excellence in occupational therapy theory, practice, education, research, and policy. Its mission is to advance knowledge that supports occupation-based, client-centered enablement and broad participation in meaningful life roles. The journal accepts high-quality original research articles, systematic reviews, theoretical and conceptual papers, and applied studies that contribute to the evidence base and knowledge translation in the profession. CJOT is bilingual (publishing in both English and French), with titles and abstracts translated accordingly, reinforcing its Canadian roots while welcoming international scholarship that has relevance for occupational therapy practice and research globally. The journal covers a wide range of topics — including assessment, intervention, health promotion, occupational engagement, rehabilitation outcomes, health systems, diversity and inclusion in practice, education methods, and policy implications. CJOT is indexed in major databases (e.g., MEDLINE, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Scopus) and serves clinicians, educators, researchers, and students seeking cutting-edge developments in occupational therapy and allied health sciences.
