Journal Descriptions
The Canadian Journal of Nursing Research (CJNR) is a peer-reviewed international scholarly journal devoted to the dissemination of high-quality research that advances nursing science, practice, education, leadership, and health systems. Established in 1969 as Nursing Papers by pioneering Canadian nurse researcher Moyra Allen, the journal was renamed Canadian Journal of Nursing Research in 1985 and has since served as a foundational publication in the field of nursing research. Published quarterly by SAGE Publishing in partnership with nursing scholars and practitioners, CJNR provides a forum for original research reports, systematic reviews, innovative methodological studies, and scholarly discussions that address the health needs of diverse populations and inform evidence-based nursing practice globally. The journal welcomes quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research spanning clinical, psychosocial, biological, educational, and policy aspects of nursing care. CJNR’s readership includes clinicians, educators, researchers, health care administrators, and policy makers who rely on rigorous scientific evidence to guide practice and improve patient outcomes. Indexed in major bibliographic databases including MEDLINE, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and Scopus, the journal is recognized for its contribution to the nursing profession and its role in shaping both national and international nursing research agendas.
