Cahiers du Genre (CG)
Journal Descriptions
Les Cahiers du Genre focuses on theoretical debates on gender relations from a resolutely multidisciplinary and international perspective. Through the dissemination of leading research, they contribute to the production of new tools, concepts and analyses in the field of social and human sciences. They are distinguished from other publications by the broad spectrum of issues addressed from a gender perspective. For example, the magazine's thematic issues deal not only with the professional world and the public and political sphere, but also with the many facets of the private sphere involving affective, psychic or psychoanalytical dimensions. Twice a year, les Cahiers du genre publishes thematic dossiers on subjects such as work, the body, equality, the family, sexuality, politics, social movements, science and technology, social times, public policy, violence, feminism, art, etc., drawing on research from sociology, history, anthropology, work psychology and political science. In this way, the magazine makes it possible to grasp the similarities and differences in the forms taken by gender relations, from one society to another and from one era to another. The international dimension of the journal is reflected in the composition of its issues, which give pride of place to articles by foreign researchers recognized by the international scientific community. Some of these texts would remain beyond the reach of the French readership were it not for the fact that the magazine makes translations available. Examining issues as diverse as work and employment, family, cities, policy, and technology, this journal aims to understand the similarities and differences between the forms taken by gender relations, both between one society and another and between one period in history and another. It favors a multidisciplinary approach that includes international comparisons.
