Cahiers de PréAut (CP)
Journal Descriptions
The préaut association was set up in 1998 by psychologists and child psychiatrists who are clinically involved in spotting early signs of autistic disorders and taking appropriate action. Préaut's specific aim is to encourage non-specialized professionals and even families to spot these signs. Préaut conducts training programs (seminars) and research (action research in partnership with local councils, maternal and child welfare doctors, the Red Cross, etc.). In Paris, it has set up a support unit (udap - unité d'accompagnement préaut) for families and young children identified at an early stage. Préaut's approach is clearly to associate and integrate, rather than oppose, approaches and knowledge (cognitive and behavioral, and of course psychoanalytical) that it considers complementary. The cahiers (previously published by L'Harmattan) are an instrument for renewed dialogue and proposals. This annual journal aims to act as a vehicle for new ideas for all healthcare professionals in the field of autism. With its thorough articles that focus on three main areas (research, clinical approaches, giving families a voice), the journal shines a light on the latest thinking about autism, seen through the lens of the PréAut Association.
