Biotechnology Letters is a transformative journal concentrating on the applications of biological reactions influenced by microbial, plant, or animal cells and biocatalysts. A leading rapid-publication primary journal dedicated to the comprehensive field of biotechnology. Covers genetics and cell biochemistry, process and reactor design, pre- and post-treatment procedures, and manufacturing operations. Explores applications of biological reactions affected by microbial, plant, or animal cells and biocatalysts derived from them. Authors can choose to publish using either the traditional publishing route OR via immediate gold Open Access. There are no publication charges except for special services. The journal offers color art free of charge for print and online publication. Biotechnology Letters is the world’s leading rapid-publication primary journal dedicated to the broad spectrum of biotechnology, publishing papers relating to applications of microbial, plant or animal cells and biocatalysts derived from them. We encourage submissions focusing broadly on molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, and data analytics with a biotechnological application. We also welcome contributions covering biotechnological aspects of regenerative medicine, cell and gene therapy, biomaterials, and therapeutic biotechnology. Also within scope are aspects related to the application of digital bioprocessing tools and methods, including process analytical technologies, artificial intelligence and machine learning. We are also eager to publish papers describing biotechnological process development, including bioreactor design and scale-up. Contributions from industrial and academic laboratories are equally welcome. Criteria for the acceptance of papers relate to our aim of publishing useful and informative results that will be of value to other workers in related fields. The emphasis is very much on novelty and immediacy in order to justify rapid publication of authors’ results. The normal limit of papers is that they should occupy no more than 6 printed pages in the Journal. Short mini-reviews on topics of high current interest are also published in the Journal. These should fit the general format and style of the Journal and normally be no longer than 8 printed pages. Authors intending to submit such a review should contact the Senior Reviews Editor beforehand to ensure its suitability for inclusion. Reviews will be peer-reviewed in the normal manner.
