Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering (BBE)
Journal Descriptions
“Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering” is an established international quarterly journal first published in 1981. It disseminates high‑quality research that integrates cybernetics and engineering methods with biomedical applications. The journal publishes original research articles, peer‑reviewed reports, brief communications and occasionally review articles that advance knowledge on how mathematical, physical, and engineering techniques can be applied to understand physiological processes and develop systems and devices used in biology and medicine. The scope covers theoretical and experimental studies on biosystems, medical diagnostics and monitoring, biomaterials, neural networks, artificial organs, biomeasurements, information systems in medicine, biomedical signal processing and modeling of biological processes. It is recognized for promoting interdisciplinary work where engineering meets medicine and life sciences. The electronic edition is published by Elsevier, while the print version is produced by Nalecz Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The journal is indexed in major databases like Science Citation Index Expanded, Scopus and EMBASE and maintains a rigorous peer‑review process to ensure publication quality.
