Bausteine einer Korpusgrammatik des Deutschen (“Building blocks towards a corpus grammar of German”) is a series presenting corpus linguistic studies on German grammar conducted at the Leibniz Institute for the German Language in Mannheim (IDS). Using state-of-the-art corpus linguistic methodology, the series aims to capture the diversity and variability of German grammar at a high resolution. At the same time, it aims to ensure the study results are verifiable. Issue by issue, the series will add “building blocks” for a new, consistently corpus-based grammar of German. "Building Blocks of a Corpus Grammar of German" is a new series being developed at the Leibniz Institute for the German Language (IDS) in Mannheim. Its goal is to use corpus linguistic methods to capture the diversity and variability of German grammar in great detail, while simultaneously ensuring the validation of the results. The first edition contains an introduction to the series and four texts designed as chapters of a new grammar: 1. Basic Aspects of Word Formation, 2. Construction of and Conversion into Adverbs, 3. Strong vs. Weak Inflection of Consecutive Attributive Adjectives, and 4. Order of Attributive Adjectives. The edition is linked to an interactive database on attributive adjectives. "Building Blocks of a Corpus Grammar of German" is a series of corpus linguistic studies of German grammar currently being conducted at the Leibniz Institute for the German Language (IDS) in Mannheim. The series aims to capture the diversity and variability of German grammar in great detail using modern corpus linguistic methods, while simultaneously ensuring the validation of the results. This gradually creates building blocks for a new, consistently corpus linguistically based grammar of German. In addition to texts in the form of grammar chapters, the results of corpus linguistic-statistical analyses and, for selected topics, the underlying language data are published.
