Australasian Emergency Nursing Journal (AENJ)
Journal Descriptions
Australasian Emergency Nursing Journal (AENJ) was an international, peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to advancing research, evidence-based practice, and clinical innovation within emergency nursing across the Australasian region and internationally. As the official journal of the College of Emergency Nursing Australasia (CENA), it sought to publish original research articles, systematic reviews, case reports, clinical techniques, commentaries, updates, letters, and other scholarly content that informed best practices in emergency nursing and healthcare delivery. The journal’s scope encompassed a broad range of topics relevant to emergency nurses — including triage systems, acute care interventions, trauma and resuscitation nursing, emergency department workflows, patient-centred care, pain management, workforce education, and health-care policy affecting emergency practice. AENJ provided a forum where practitioners, researchers, and academics could share evidence that supports improved outcomes for patients in urgent and emergent settings, reflects interdisciplinary collaboration, and contributes to professional development in emergency care. In 2018, the journal was formally continued under the title Australasian Emergency Care, reflecting an expanded focus that included emergency nursing alongside emergency medicine and paramedicine while maintaining a strong clinical and research emphasis.
