Atlantic reporter (AR)
Journal Descriptions
Atlantic Reporter is a prominent regional case law reporter within the National Reporter System published by Thomson Reuters through its West Publishing division. The reporter publishes appellate court decisions from several northeastern states of the United States, including Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and the District of Columbia. The publication contains officially reported judicial opinions from state supreme courts and intermediate appellate courts. Each case includes editorial enhancements such as headnotes, legal summaries, topic classifications, and citations prepared according to the West Key Number System. These features assist attorneys, judges, scholars, and students in conducting efficient legal research and understanding judicial precedents. Over the years, the reporter expanded into additional series including Atlantic Reporter Second Series (A.2d) and Atlantic Reporter Third Series (A.3d) to accommodate the growing number of reported decisions. The publication is recognized internationally as a reliable legal research resource and is widely available through law libraries, academic institutions, and electronic legal databases such as Westlaw.
