Journal Descriptions

ASLA Studies in Applied Linguistics publishes peer-reviewed research articles in applied linguistics. The journal has a broad thematic scope, covering topics from individual linguistic and communicative competence to language- and communication-related phenomena within and between societies. ASLA Studies in Applied Linguistics publishes peer-reviewed research articles in the field of applied linguistics. Applied linguistics is an inter- and transdisciplinary research field explicitly oriented toward practical issues related to language and communication. Since 1988, the journal has published contributions from ASLA’s symposia. Since 2022, it has had a regular article publication schedule as well as the English title ASLA Studies in Applied Linguistics. Manuscripts can be submitted continuously throughout the year. Accepted articles are published online and later compiled into a volume. Typically, one volume is published annually, and every other year, a volume featuring contributions from ASLA’s symposium is released. The aim of ASLA Studies in Applied Linguistics is to offer researchers a broad forum for disseminating research on applied linguistics in a Swedish context. The journal welcomes both empirical and theoretical research articles addressing practical issues related to language and communication. Its thematic scope ranges from aspects of individual linguistic and communicative competence (such as first and second language acquisition, literacy, language disorders, etc.) to language- and communication-related issues within and between societies, such as linguistic variation and discrimination, multilingualism, language conflicts, language policy and language planning.
