Asia-Pacific Journal of Rural Development (APJORD)
Journal Descriptions
The Asia-Pacific Journal of Rural Development (APJORD) is a respected semiannual peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing scholarly and policy understanding of rural development across the Asia-Pacific region. Established in 1991, the journal serves as a crucial platform for academia, policymakers, development practitioners, NGOs, and students to discuss interdisciplinary research, empirical evidence, and field experiences that address the social, economic, environmental, and institutional dimensions of rural transformation. APJORD emphasizes integrated approaches aligned with global sustainable development goals (SDGs), including poverty reduction, livelihood diversification, natural resource management, rural governance, rural infrastructure, food security, climate resilience, and inclusive rural economies. Its articles include original research papers, conceptual analyses, case studies, policy reviews, and reflective commentaries that connect theory with practice. As a flagship publication of the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP), hosted in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and published by SAGE Publications, the journal promotes cross-national knowledge exchange and evidence-based dialogue among stakeholders engaged in addressing complex rural challenges. The journal’s rigorous double-blind review process ensures high academic quality and relevance for those working toward sustainable and equitable rural development in one of the world’s most diverse and dynamic regions.
