The ASCE-ASME Journal of Risk and Uncertainty in Engineering Systems, Part A: Civil Engineering is a peer-reviewed international journal that addresses the analysis and management of risk, uncertainty, and reliability in engineered systems with a focus on civil infrastructure and civil engineering applications. Established in 2015 through a collaboration between the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the journal provides a forum for cutting-edge research, state-of-the-art methodologies, and discussions on risk and uncertainty that arise throughout the lifecycle of engineering systems — from planning and design through construction, operation, and maintenance. The journal publishes original research articles that explore topics such as risk quantification, hazard identification, consequence assessment, uncertainty modeling, resilient decision-making, and risk-informed design practices across civil engineering domains. It also highlights advances in computational methods, probabilistic frameworks, data-driven analysis, and applications of machine learning for uncertainty and risk assessment. The aim is to provide engineers, researchers, and practitioners with tools and insights to improve safety, reliability, and resilience of critical civil infrastructure under real-world uncertainties, including natural hazards and emerging risks from environmental change and technological complexity.
