Arid Ecosystems (AE)
Journal Descriptions
Arid Ecosystems is an international, quarterly peer-reviewed scientific journal focusing on ecological research and environmental science in arid and semiarid landscapes — regions that comprise deserts and other water-limited ecosystems. First established in English in 2011, the journal publishes high-quality original research, review articles, and methodological studies that deepen understanding of how arid environments respond to natural drivers (like climatic variation and paleohistory) and human influences (such as land use change and degradation). Its scope covers multidisciplinary themes including ecology, soil science, vegetation dynamics, biodiversity, climate change effects, and strategies for ecosystem protection and rehabilitation. The journal also addresses desertification problems, offering theoretical and applied frameworks for preventing degradation and enhancing resilience of arid territories. Publications span local to global scales, integrating field studies, modeling approaches, and remote sensing analyses. Arid Ecosystems welcomes submissions in English from international researchers and adheres to rigorous peer review policies, ensuring scientific integrity and relevance. Under the editorial leadership of Zalibek G. Zalibekov and his team, the journal bridges research across ecology, geography, hydrology, and environmental management to support sustainable land use in some of Earth’s most fragile and climate-sensitive regions.
