Archivio Storico Italiano (ASI)
Journal Descriptions
Quarterly magazine founded by Gian Pietro Vieusseux in 1842 and published under the auspices of the Deputation of National History for Tuscany, The Archivio Storico Italiano is the oldest ongoing Italian historical journal and one of the oldest in the world. Its origins date back to the initiative of Gian Pietro Vieusseux, who in 1842, along with his first collaborators, began publishing "previously unpublished or extremely rare works and documents relating to the history of Italy." The Archivio Storico Italiano was one of the first historical journals to have its own website, launched on May 20, 1998. It is constantly updated and offers an updated index of annual issues, the corpus of historical indexes, and abstracts of issues published from 2011 to the present. The website also collects essential data on the quality assurance procedures for published texts (peer review). The indexes for annual issues from 1842 to 2010 are currently unavailable as they are being incorporated into a new version.
