Archives de philosophie (AP)
Journal Descriptions
This journal is not limited to a single subject, even if it favors certain domains: ancient philosophy, the Cartesian moment, German idealism, English philosophy. Current research, including these fields, is connected to other theoretical research on metaphysics, epistemology, “post-modern” perspectives, and the political and moral questions of our time. Dedicated to the publication of research articles, the quarterly journal Archives de philosophie has, since its inception, aimed to play an active role in the philosophical arguments of its time, in all fields, by nourishing and enlightening the present. Archives of Philosophy is not limited to a single field, even if it is fond of certain ones such as ancient, Cartesian, English, or German idealism. In addition to participating in research in these traditional themes, the journal was very early interested in several movements of phenomenology, including hermeneutics, psychoanalysis and North American philosophy from its beginnings and in all its breadth. Thus, in 1931, a study on Freud was published , and a year later another on Indian thought . In current research, the journal places even greater emphasis on the dialogue between philosophy and the human sciences (sociology, psychoanalysis, history, but also language, semiotics, ethnography, biology, etc.). How does this dialogue influence the style and content of philosophical reflection and, thus, renew its questioning? How does it outline new models of reason and rationality? Similarly, to what extent does this dialogue lead the humanities to question the type of rationality that operates within them?
