Journal Descriptions

Anthropocene is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to research on the nature, scale, extent, and implications of interactions between human activities and Earth systems. It explores how human influence alters landscapes, oceans, the atmosphere, the cryosphere, and ecosystems over a wide range of spatial and temporal scales, from regional processes to global environmental change and geological signatures. The scope includes research on environmental dynamics, planetary boundaries, coupled human–environment systems, feedbacks between socio-economic and biophysical processes, and implications for sustainability, resilience, and policy. The journal publishes original research articles, reviews, and interdisciplinary studies that deepen scientific understanding of anthropogenic global change and its consequences for Earth systems and societies. It provides a forum for scientists across Earth sciences, environmental sciences, geography, ecology, and related disciplines to present findings that enhance predictive capability and inform sustainable responses to human-driven transformations of the planet. Anthropocene is indexed in major scientific databases and attracts contributions from an international editorial board of experts in Earth and environmental sciences.
