Annual Review of Fish Diseases (ARFD)
Journal Descriptions
Annual Review of Fish Diseases was an annual peer-reviewed scientific review journal published by Elsevier from 1991 through 1996. It focused on synthesizing and summarizing the state of research on diseases of fish and aquatic animal health, encompassing infectious agents (viral, bacterial, parasitic, and fungal), host–pathogen interactions, immune responses, and disease management relevant to aquaculture and wild fish populations. Each annual volume provided comprehensive review articles that evaluated the current literature, identified research trends, and outlined future directions for disease prevention, therapy, and epidemiology in fish health. The journal aimed to serve researchers, aquatic veterinarians, and aquaculture professionals by distilling complex findings into authoritative summaries, supporting evidence-based strategies to improve aquatic animal welfare and production sustainability. With Print ISSN 0959-8030 and E-ISSN 1879-1808, it published one volume per year. After 1996, Annual Review of Fish Diseases ceased independent publication and its focus on fish disease reviews was incorporated into the broader journal Aquaculture (Elsevier), which continues to cover health and disease topics within its scope. Specific editor-in-chief information from its original run is not archived in current public publisher directories, and editorial contact now operates through the Aquaculture journal’s systems at Elsevier.
