Founded in 1887, Annals of Botany is an international plant science journal publishing novel and rigorous research in all areas of plant science. Research applying molecular, analytical, mathematical and statistical techniques to examine topical questions at any level of biological organization ranging from cell to community, tissue culture to crop production, and microclimate to ecosystem are welcome. The scope extends to all flowering and non-flowering taxa and includes taxonomic and evolutionary questions. Article types include Original Research papers (Research Articles and Technical Advances), Invited and Submitted Reviews (Reviews, Research in Context, Perspectives), and Editorial & Front Material (Botanical Briefings, Letters, and Commentaries). The Journal is managed by the Annals of Botany Company, a not-for-profit educational charity based in the United Kingdom, established to promote plant science worldwide. Annals of Botany is published monthly in both electronic and printed forms with at least two Special Issues each year that focus on a particular theme in plant biology. All articles back to 1887 are searchable for content from the Annals of Botany website, and their titles or abstracts may be downloaded free of charge. Articles more than 12 months old and dating back to 1993 may be accessed in their entirety from the web site free of charge. Issues published between 1887 and 1992 may be downloaded free of charge if your institution has subscribed to this service. For non-subscribers, a pay per view service is available for each article published in the past 12 months or prior to 1993. Annals of Botany authors have the option to publish their paper under the Oxford Open initiative; whereby, for a charge, their paper will be made freely available online immediately upon publication. Annals of Botany offers extremely competitive rates for Open Access publication, supported by its not-for-profit status aiming to promote botanical science
