Annales historiques de la Révolution française (AHRF)

Founded in the early 20th century, Annales historiques de la Révolution française is published by Armand Colin and the Société des études robespierristes, with the support of the Institut des Sciences Humaines et Sociales of the CNRS and the Centre National du Livre. The journal publishes unpublished works and documents devoted to a revolutionary period understood in a broad space and chronology, covering all the revolutionary movements that affected the world between the 1770s and the 1830s. While France is at the heart of the book's concerns, many other territories are also included, as shown by the many special issues devoted to North America, Latin America, the Indies and the various revolutionary phenomena that marked Europe at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. The journal publishes 1,000 pages a year, divided into two issues of varia and two special issues, which are not the publication of study days but collections of original articles, specially designed for the AHRF. Traditionally, the journal's mission is to provide readers with a pluralistic, multidisciplinary (history, legal history, philosophy, literature) and international vision of research, through articles, reviews of French and foreign works (around 70 to 80 per year), publication of debates (two "Regards croisés" per year) and a policy of translating original articles proposed by foreign authors. Each year, we publish 15-30% of articles submitted by non-French-speaking historians, which we translate to facilitate exchanges between historiographies. This international openness, which continues with the indispensable support of the Centre national du livre and the Institut des sciences humaines et sociales of the CNRS, now makes the Annales historiques de la Révolution française available on CAIRN, Revue.org and, since 2013, one of the two special issues has also been entirely translated into English and put online on the CAIRN international website.
