Founded in 1951 by Michel de Boüard, professor of medieval history at the University of Caen, Annales de Normandie is one of France's leading journals of regional studies. Published twice a year, it features articles on history, art history, archaeology, ethnography, geography, linguistics and literature relating to Normandy and the Norman world. It includes a "Sources and documents" section, as well as reviews of books, theses and research projects. Referenced by the HCERES and distributed in some twenty countries, it is published with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Communication, the City of Caen, HisTeMé (EA 7455, University of Caen Normandy), the Centre Michel de Boüard (CRAHAM, UMR 6273 CNRS, University of Caen Normandy) and the Maison de la Recherche en Sciences Humaines of the University of Caen Normandy. Les Cahiers des Annales de Normandie, 37 volumes in all since 1962, is a reference collection of works on Normandy and the Norman world, including Mélanges.
