Animal Sentience (AS)

Animal Sentience is an international, peer reviewed, open access scholarly journal dedicated exclusively to the scientific and interdisciplinary study of animal feeling, consciousness, cognition, and welfare. Established in 2019, the journal was created in response to growing scientific recognition that many nonhuman animals are capable of experiencing subjective states such as pain, pleasure, fear, comfort, and other conscious experiences. The journal provides a unique forum for researchers from diverse disciplines to explore how animals think, feel, perceive, and interact with their environments. The journal publishes target articles accompanied by open peer commentaries from experts representing fields such as neuroscience, psychology, ethology, philosophy, veterinary medicine, animal welfare science, and law.
