Anglican Theological Review (ATR)
Journal Descriptions
The Anglican Theological Review (ATR) is a peer-reviewed academic journal rooted in the Anglican theological tradition and widely respected in Christian theological scholarship since its founding in 1918. Over more than a century of continuous publication, ATR has served as a platform for rigorous theological reflection, interdisciplinary engagement, and thoughtful conversation within and beyond the Anglican Communion. It publishes original research articles, theological essays, book reviews, and poetry that examine scripture, doctrine, church history, ethics, liturgy, and contemporary theological challenges. Although its orientation is broadly Anglican, the journal welcomes voices from many Christian traditions and engages with interdisciplinary concerns including philosophy, literature, and the arts, contributing to wider conversations in theology and religious studies. ATR fosters scholarly excellence and deep reflection on faith, doctrine, and practice, making it a vital resource for clergy, theologians, seminary faculty, students, and thoughtful lay readers who seek to understand and interpret Christian belief in contexts past and present. Each quarterly issue reflects developments in global theology and offers pathways for engagement with both historic Anglican thought and emerging theological insights, strengthening the intellectual life of the church and academy alike.
