As stated by Prof. Dr. Bilgin Timuralp, the first and founding editor of the journal, in his Editorial in the first issue of the Anatolian Journal of Cardiology, our aim is not only to be a good journal, but to publish a journal that is recognized as a good periodical by international judges and to have our publications and presentations reach an international audience (1). Also “The primary goal of the Anatolian Journal of Cardiology is to introduce the level of science reached in Turkish Cardiology to the global cardiological community”. Over the past 17 years, great care and efforts were devoted to this end, leading to the journal attaining an impact factor of 1.19 at present as a result of the hard work and determination of our first editor. Ownership of the journal passed to the Turkish Society of Cardiology in 2014, and it is now one of the official publications of the Society. In order to stay ahead of the field and reach the above-mentioned objectives, we work in close cooperation with the other journal of the Society, the Archives of the Turkish Society of Cardiology. The Anatolian Journal of Cardiology is indexed in the Science Citation Index-Expanded, PubMed/MEDLINE, EMBASE, Scopus, EMCare, CINAHL, Gale/Cengage Learning, EBSCO, DOAJ, ProQuest, Index Copernicus and the TUBITAK ULAKBIM TR INDEX. The work of the authors, reviewers, members of the Editorial Board, Associate Editors, Editor, and Editor-in-Chief all contribute to the success of the journal, and their efforts have been, and will always be, appreciated.
