American Journal of Optometry and Physiological Optics (AJOPO)

American Journal of Optometry and Physiological Optics was a peer reviewed scientific and clinical journal devoted to optometry, physiological optics, and vision science. Published as the official journal of the American Academy of Optometry, it served as an important academic platform for researchers, clinicians, and educators in eye care and visual sciences. The journal emerged in 1974 as a continuation of earlier optometric publications and remained active until 1988. The journal published original research articles, clinical investigations, review papers, and technical reports related to visual physiology, refractive errors, ocular diseases, binocular vision, contact lenses, visual perception, and optical instrumentation. It also addressed developments in diagnostic techniques, optometric education, and applied vision research. The publication played a significant role in advancing modern optometric science during the late twentieth century and became widely recognized within the ophthalmic and visual science communities. In 1989, it continued under the new title Optometry and Vision Science, which remains an active leading journal in the field today.
