Journal Descriptions

American Journal of Contact Dermatitis was a peer reviewed medical journal dedicated to research and clinical practice in contact dermatitis and related skin disorders. Established in 1993 in the United States, the journal served as an important scientific publication for dermatologists, allergists, occupational health specialists, and researchers studying inflammatory and allergic skin diseases. The journal published original research articles, review papers, clinical reports, and case studies related to allergic contact dermatitis, irritant dermatitis, occupational dermatology, immunologic skin reactions, and patch testing methodologies. It emphasized the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of skin disorders caused by environmental, chemical, occupational, and allergic exposures. The publication became well recognized for promoting advances in dermatologic allergy research and improving understanding of hypersensitivity reactions affecting the skin. It also addressed public health concerns associated with workplace skin diseases and exposure related dermatologic conditions. In 2004, the journal changed its title to Dermatitis to reflect a broader dermatology scope while continuing its focus on contact and inflammatory skin diseases. The journal has been indexed in major biomedical databases including MEDLINE and PubMed and remains influential in clinical dermatology and allergy research.
