Ambulatory Pediatrics (AP)
Journal Descriptions
Ambulatory Pediatrics was established to address the growing importance of outpatient and primary care services for children and adolescents. The journal served as an official publication of the Academic Pediatric Association and provided a scholarly platform for clinicians, educators, and researchers involved in ambulatory and community-based pediatric practice. Its scope included preventive health care, health services research, behavioral and developmental pediatrics, adolescent health, and pediatric education. The journal emphasized evidence-based approaches to improving pediatric care in outpatient settings and published original research articles, clinical reviews, policy analyses, and educational studies. Special attention was given to healthcare delivery models, quality improvement, and training in pediatric primary care. In 2006, Ambulatory Pediatrics was renamed Academic Pediatrics to better reflect its broader mission in academic general pediatrics, while continuing the same editorial goals and audience. Articles published under Ambulatory Pediatrics remain part of the scientific record and are still widely cited in pediatric and primary care research.
