Journal Descriptions

African Safety Promotion (ASP) is a peer‑reviewed multidisciplinary academic journal focused on research, policy, and practice related to injury prevention, violence prevention, and safety promotion within Africa. Established in 2002, the journal serves as a science and policy forum for scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and community leaders engaged in understanding and addressing the causes, consequences, and prevention of injuries, interpersonal violence, and related social harms across African contexts. The journal encourages submissions that integrate epidemiological research, social science perspectives, public health approaches, and theoretical analyses that examine injury patterns, risk factors, resilience mechanisms, and effective intervention strategies. Articles typically explore themes such as community safety, violence prevention programs, injury surveillance and measurement, behavioral risk factors, and policy evaluations that inform evidence‑based prevention efforts. ASP adopts a double‑blind peer review process to ensure rigorous scientific quality and relevance. Over the years, the journal has contributed to advancing interdisciplinary research on injury and violence prevention in Africa and to building local research capacity and policy engagement in these critical public health domains.
