Journal Descriptions
The African Journal of Educational Studies in Mathematics and Sciences (AJESMS) is an international peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes scholarly research in mathematics education, science education, and related STEM disciplines. The journal aims to promote innovative research and critical discussion on teaching, learning, and curriculum development in mathematics and science, particularly within African educational contexts. It provides a platform for researchers, educators, and policymakers to share empirical studies, theoretical analyses, literature reviews, and methodological innovations that enhance understanding of mathematics and science education. AJESMS encourages interdisciplinary research that integrates educational theory with practical classroom applications. Topics published in the journal include mathematics pedagogy, science teaching strategies, assessment methods, curriculum design, educational technology, teacher education, and students’ conceptual understanding in STEM fields. The journal also supports research focusing on indigenous knowledge systems and informal learning practices in science and mathematics across Africa. All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer-review process to ensure academic quality and originality. The journal is hosted by the Centre for School and Community Science and Technology Studies (SACOST) within the Institute for Educational Research and Innovation Studies at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Ghana. Its goal is to disseminate high-quality research that contributes to improving STEM education and advancing educational development in Africa and globally.
