Journal Descriptions

Acta Zoologica Lituanica was an international scientific journal focused on zoological and ecological research involving animal diversity and environmental studies. Established in 1995 in Lithuania, the journal served as a scholarly platform for publishing original research papers, reviews, and short scientific reports related to vertebrate and invertebrate fauna. The publication emphasized biodiversity, taxonomy, ecology, systematics, conservation biology, and environmental monitoring, particularly within the Baltic and Northern European regions. The journal encouraged interdisciplinary zoological research involving terrestrial, freshwater, and marine organisms. Topics included species distribution, ecological interactions, habitat conservation, faunistic surveys, population biology, and evolutionary studies. Acta Zoologica Lituanica also supported the dissemination of regional biodiversity data and promoted collaboration among zoologists, ecologists, museum researchers, and environmental scientists. Published in English, the journal became recognized internationally and was indexed in several biological and zoological databases. It contributed significantly to Baltic zoological science and biodiversity documentation. In later years, the journal was incorporated into broader international publishing frameworks and became associated with Taylor & Francis online publication systems.
