Journal Descriptions

Acta Metallurgica et Materialia was a peer-reviewed scientific journal that operated between 1990 and 1995, serving as the transitional title between Acta Metallurgica and Acta Materialia. The journal focused on the field of materials science, with particular emphasis on physical metallurgy, structure–property relationships, and processing of metals and alloys. It provided an international platform for researchers, engineers, and scientists to publish original research articles, comprehensive reviews, and short communications that advanced understanding of microstructural phenomena and their influence on mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties of materials. The journal covered a broad spectrum of topics, including crystallography, phase transformations, mechanical behavior, deformation mechanisms, materials characterization, and novel alloy development. By promoting interdisciplinary studies, it facilitated the exchange of knowledge between metallurgy, materials engineering, and applied physics communities. Acta Metallurgica et Materialia played a critical role in documenting the evolution of metallurgical science during the early 1990s, bridging classical metallurgy with emerging materials research trends. Its rigorous peer-review process ensured high-quality publications, supporting the professional development of authors and advancing the field. Following 1995, the journal was rebranded as Acta Materialia, continuing its legacy as a leading international publication in materials science and engineering.
