Journal Descriptions

Acta Limnologica Brasiliensia is a peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to the study of inland aquatic ecosystems, particularly focusing on limnology—the science of lakes, rivers, reservoirs, wetlands, and other freshwater environments. The journal publishes original research articles, review papers, short communications, and technical notes that contribute to understanding freshwater ecology and environmental processes. Its scope includes aquatic biodiversity, water quality, nutrient cycling, pollution impacts, ecosystem functioning, conservation of freshwater habitats, and ecological modeling. The journal plays an important role in disseminating scientific knowledge relevant to tropical and subtropical freshwater systems, especially those in Brazil and other Latin American regions. It serves researchers, environmental scientists, ecologists, hydrologists, and policy makers working on water resource management and ecosystem conservation. The journal is widely recognized in Latin American scientific communities and is indexed in regional and international databases such as SciELO. Over the years, it has contributed significantly to limnological research by providing a platform for studies on Brazilian aquatic ecosystems, which are among the most diverse in the world. It is published by the Brazilian Limnological Society and supports open scientific communication in environmental sciences.
