Acta Geneticae Medicae et Gemellologiae (AGMG)
Journal Descriptions
Acta Geneticae Medicae et Gemellologiae was a well respected international scientific journal devoted to medical genetics, human heredity, cytogenetics, and twin research. The journal served as an important platform for publishing original research articles, clinical studies, epidemiological reports, and genetic investigations related to twins and inherited diseases. It was officially associated with several international genetics and twin study organizations and played a major role in advancing human genetics research during the twentieth century. The journal published contributions from researchers worldwide and included articles in English, French, German, and Italian during its early years before shifting mainly to English language publication. Topics commonly covered included genetic disorders, chromosomal abnormalities, hereditary diseases, population genetics, prenatal studies, and twin epidemiology. Under the editorial leadership of Luigi Gedda, the journal became internationally recognized for promoting interdisciplinary research in medical genetics and gemellology. The publication later evolved into the journal Twin Research and Human Genetics, continuing its legacy in twin and human genetics research.
