Acta Chirurgica Iugoslavica (ACI)
Journal Descriptions
Acta Chirurgica Iugoslavica was a peer-reviewed medical journal dedicated to the field of surgery and surgical sciences within the former Yugoslavia. It served as an important academic platform for surgeons and researchers from various Yugoslav republics, including Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and North Macedonia. The journal published original research articles, clinical studies, surgical techniques, case reports, and review articles covering a wide spectrum of surgical disciplines. The scope of the journal included general surgery, abdominal and gastrointestinal surgery, vascular surgery, trauma and emergency surgery, thoracic surgery, and experimental surgical research. It played a key role in promoting collaboration among surgical professionals in the region and contributed to the development of modern surgical practices in Southeastern Europe. Following the dissolution of Yugoslavia in the early 1990s, many scientific journals, including Acta Chirurgica Iugoslavica, underwent restructuring or discontinuation, with successor publications emerging in individual countries. The journal remains an important historical source reflecting the development of surgical science in the region during the Yugoslav period.
