ACM SIGUCCS Newsletter (SN)
Journal Descriptions
The ACM SIGUCCS Newsletter is a long‑standing publication of the Association for Computing Machinery’s Special Interest Group on University and College Computing Services (SIGUCCS), first appearing in 1965 with the print ISSN 0736‑6892 and an online counterpart carrying E‑ISSN 1558‑027X. Over several decades, the newsletter acted as a central hub for communication among members of the SIGUCCS community — professionals dedicated to supporting and managing information technology services on university and college campuses. Published on a quarterly basis, it traditionally shared leadership updates, conference information, professional development content, community news, award announcements, and practical guidance on topics such as help desks, academic technology services, infrastructure support, training, and documentation. The newsletter also chronicled the evolution of SIGUCCS’s activities, including transitions in communication formats and adaptations to contemporary technological needs, reflecting how higher education IT professionals collaborated and learned from one another. While print runs appear to have continued through the late 1990s, SIGUCCS has maintained electronic communications and online newsletter content for its members, ensuring ongoing engagement and sharing of best practices across the global higher‑ed IT community.
