Journal Descriptions

ACM SIGSAM Bulletin is the quarterly publication of the ACM Special Interest Group on Symbolic and Algebraic Manipulation (SIGSAM), published under the umbrella of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). Originally launched in the mid‑1960s, the bulletin has been a forum for the symbolic computation and computer algebra research community for decades, evolving into what is now widely known as Communications in Computer Algebra. It serves the community by disseminating a mix of formally reviewed technical articles on advancements in symbolic and algebraic algorithms and systems, timely communications and short reports on emerging problems and techniques, and announcements, calls for papers, workshop reports, and community news. Its scope spans hybrid symbolic‑numeric methods, algebraic manipulation systems, complexity analysis, software implementation strategies, and applications across mathematics, engineering, and scientific computing. The bulletin provides a mechanism for researchers to share intermediate results, insights, and developments outside the formal peer‑review cycle in journals, fostering rapid exchange of ideas. Over its long history, the publication has documented key advances in symbolic computation research and served as a cornerstone resource for the international community working in this specialized but foundational area of computer science. SIGSAM members receive access to this quarterly publication via the ACM Digital Library and association mailings.
