ACM SIGSAC Review (SR)

ACM SIGSAC Review was the official community newsletter and review publication of the ACM Special Interest Group on Security, Audit, and Control (SIGSAC), published by the Association for Computing Machinery. Launched in 1981 as part of SIGSAC’s effort to support information security professionals and researchers, the SIGSAC Review provided a forum for sharing technical articles, survey pieces, case studies, commentary, and community news in the broad area of computer and information security. Across its 15‑volume run through 1997, it chronicled developments during formative years in the field, including early work on access control, assurance, authentication, cryptographic methods, intrusion detection, risk analysis, and secure protocols — areas that remain central to modern cybersecurity. Content typically included review articles on emerging security topics, reports from SIGSAC conferences and workshops, discussions of security standards, and insights into auditing and control practices for information systems. Although not a peer‑reviewed research journal in the traditional sense, the SIGSAC Review served as an important communication medium for the ACM SIGSAC community, connecting practitioners, academics, and policymakers on trends, challenges, and best practices in security research and implementation. Its archived issues are preserved in digital libraries and used by historians and researchers seeking early perspectives in computer security scholarship
