ACM SIGecom Exchanges (SE)
Journal Descriptions
ACM SIGecom Exchanges is the official newsletter and biannual publication of the Association for Computing Machinery’s Special Interest Group on Economics and Computation (SIGecom). First issued in 2000, its inaugural editor-in-chief was Peter R. Wurman, setting the foundation for what has become a central communication venue for the interdisciplinary economics and computation (EconCS) research community. The newsletter’s mission is to share research insights, community news, and scholarly reflections that bridge economic reasoning and computational methods — a crucial domain in areas like auctions, mechanism design, algorithmic game theory, and economic systems driven by computational infrastructure. Published twice yearly, in June and December, SIGecom Exchanges features editorial introductions, letters from thought leaders, research surveys, annotated reading lists, job market candidate profiles, conference reports, and topical letters that reflect current research challenges and emerging directions. Recent issues combine summaries of community events (e.g., SIGecom Winter Meeting highlights), discussions of open problems, and annotated insights that help researchers and students connect with the broader EconCS landscape. The publication also serves as a historical archive of how the field has evolved over more than two decades since the digital economy’s formative years. Contributors retain copyright to their work, and all content is included in the ACM Digital Library.
