Accademia Etrusca di Cortona, Annuario (AECA)
Journal Descriptions
Since its publication began in 1934, the Yearbook has been dedicated to collecting and disseminating both the studies promoted directly by the cultural institution it represents and the contributions of scholars engaged in topics traditionally of specific interest to it , ranging from archaeology to art history, from literature to local history. The publishing activity of the Etruscan Academy is intense and varied: it is mainly divided into a series of series and monographic works in which various forms of collaboration are active. The institution's main organ is the Annuario – now in its thirty-fifth issue – born in 1934 after the conclusion of publication of Polimnia , which had until then been the Academy's official organ, edited by Gilberto Brunacci. In 1969, it was joined by the series Note e Documenti , a series of slim monographic volumes intended to illustrate specific topics relating to Cortona and the Academy; in 1983, another series , Fonti e Testi , was launched , aimed at re-proposing texts and sources on Cortona's history, mostly unknown or forgotten; finally, in 2004, a third editorial series was launched, entitled Cortona francescana , dedicated to the most interesting aspects of Cortona's history and the religious culture promoted by the Saint from Assisi. The periodical series has been gradually expanded with monographs and exhibition catalogues, edited both directly and in collaboration with universities and various organizations. A comprehensive list of these publications would be too long to list. It should be noted that these publications have explored a broad cross-section of Cortona's history, culture, and art, and have provided in-depth insights into the history of the Etruscan Academy since its inception.
