A. M. A. archives of neurology and psychiatry (AMAANP)
Journal Descriptions
A.M.A. Archives of Neurology and Psychiatry was a highly influential peer reviewed medical journal established in 1950 by the American Medical Association (AMA). The journal served as a major platform for scientific research and clinical studies in the fields of neurology and psychiatry during the twentieth century. It contributed significantly to the advancement of medical understanding related to nervous system disorders, psychiatric illnesses, and brain science. The journal published original research articles, clinical investigations, case studies, and review papers covering neurological diseases, psychiatric disorders, neurophysiology, neuropathology, epilepsy, schizophrenia, depression, dementia, and emerging therapeutic approaches. It also addressed the relationship between neurological and psychological conditions, helping establish neuropsychiatry as an important interdisciplinary field. Later, the journal was divided into separate specialty publications, Archives of Neurology and Archives of General Psychiatry, which subsequently evolved into JAMA Neurology and JAMA Psychiatry. Its archives remain historically valuable for the study of neurological and psychiatric medicine.
