Journal Descriptions
4OR – A Quarterly Journal of Operations Research is a respected international publication in the field of operations research, launched in 2003 and appearing four times a year. It provides a scientific forum where researchers and practitioners share advances in both the theoretical foundations and practical applications of OR. The journal encourages submissions that explore optimization techniques, decision support systems, economic analysis, mathematical modelling, computational algorithms, stochastic processes, and interdisciplinary applications linking OR with economics, logistics, computer science and management science. As the joint official journal of the Belgian, French and Italian Operations Research Societies, 4OR reflects a collaborative European perspective and attracts contributions from a global community of academics and professionals. Under the leadership of its three Editors‑in‑Chief—Yves Crama, Michel Grabisch and Silvano Martello—the journal emphasizes rigorous peer review, relevance to real‑world challenges, and clarity of exposition. Published by Springer Science + Business Media in Germany, 4OR maintains a hybrid model that supports both subscription and open access publishing, striking a balance between broad dissemination and sustainability. Articles published in 4OR contribute to advancing operational methodologies, improving decision‑making processes, and enhancing the theoretical understanding of complex systems in science, engineering and management.
